TAPPING INTO COMMUNITY

Ministry to the Elderly

A church service is run monthly in the Joondalup Brightwater Nursing Home.

Many of the residents struggle with mobility, dementia and other health issues yet they can often remember the words of the old hymns and bible verses.

Some of the residents may not be able to sing or speak however they appreciate the love and fellowship that is shared. “Thank you so much for coming, I could feel God’s presence today”, the 90 year old lady in a wheelchair last week said. “I used to go to church every week but can’t now.”

This service is an important way of honoring our elderly who are not able to attend church. The service is open to all residents not just those who are Uniting Church or Christian.
